Let’s Talk. For Real.

Let’s talk. For real. I’ve been thinking a lot about authenticity. For me, being authentic is very important to who I am as a person. For much of my life, I felt I had to be someone else’s idea of Jenny. I either wasn’t allowed to be myself or I had to conform to someone else’s idea of who I am. So being able to be myself and speak my truth is so vital to me.

It’s why I make what I make as an artist. I use real plants and flowers, real textures from real surfaces. It’s why I am so passionate about inspiring others with my artwork and my story.

In an age with AI and social media, it’s easy to look polished and perfect. But are we meant to always be polished and perfect? We’re still human. We’re imperfect. We make mistakes. We have crazy lives and crazy things happen to us. We have big messy emotions. What’s wrong with that?

These are things I think about a lot. I feel gross when I can’t say how I’m really feeling because I’m worried what people will think. Or when I’m struggling financially. Or scared. Or lonely. Whatever the case may be.

I don’t know about you but I’m exhausted trying to always look polished and perfect. To have all the answers. Because you know what? I don’t have all the answers. On any given day, I don’t know what the heck I’m doing. This morning I was so frazzled I forgot to brush my teeth and left the house with coffee breath. Attractive.

I’m just winging it out here. And I want to be authentic and share that with you.

So I decided to start writing these thoughts down. My trials and tribulations as an artist, solo business owner, solo income household. And yes, I’m writing these myself. No help from AI. So they are going to be imperfect. I hope that some of what I share resonates with you. And maybe along the way, we can help each other through this messy thing called real life.

With love and messiness, Jenny
